Innovation is the hallmark of Aim Controls.
With its extensive in-house electronics, mechanical,
and software design capability, Aim can greatly simplify the
acquisition and operation of your laser system to improve
production efficiency. Unlike other laser system manufacturers,
Aim can customize any of its standard products for a particular
application. Aim has the multi-discipline engineering
capability to design and implement unique laser solutions
for your process engineering requirements.

moving web. |
The system shown here is a custom table for cutting and
welding plastics such as acrylic, polycarbonate, and PETG.
It has a CO2 laser, a diode laser, and a liquid dispenser,
all mounted on the same gantry and all under the control of
a simple software program that runs on any PC. This
system is ideal for eliminating the various glues and adhesives
needed to bond plastics. The welds are clear and strong.

The system uses a 100 watt air
cooled laser. Aim Controls built the gantry, optical
system, laser
control electronics, custom user "operator"
software, and did on-site
installation and training.

Aim has employed its own electronic and software engineering
capability to integrate all of the electronics needed for
operation of the laser and the multi-axis motion control (e.g.
an X-Y table) into a simple integrated circuit design. No
PC plug in cards are needed. This significantly improves operational
simplicity and minimizes system latency. This new electronic
laser control system (patent pending) can directly operate
almost any CO2, YAG, and diode laser.
Another example of Aim's innovation is its Image processing
and Laser system control software. This can be operated under
any PC Windows environment. Unlike other control software,
the user does not need to operate in MS-DOS mode. The software
is very easy to use and it takes only a few minutes to learn.
Yet, the software is extremely versatile and allows for on
the "fly" changes of all significant parameters
such as power and speed. For raster scanning (typically used
for imaging,) all that is needed is a bitmap file (.bmp) and
for vector operation an HPGL language file (.hpg).

The following picture shows a 48" x 48" custom table with
a 100 watt CO2 laser, 120 watt diode laser, and liquid dispensing
system. [Note: the Class I cover
has been removed to better show the working area]
The table is a 1" thick steel top, drilled for any configuration
of stops, hold downs, and jigs, and nickle plated for anti-corrosion.
Other custom configurations can be ordered from Aim
Controls.
Aim is also unique in making available an optional hand
console for manual operation of X, Y or Z motion. The hand
console has a graphics LCD display, 4x4 membrane keypad, four
or six button direction switches, and optional joystick. This
hand console provides on the spot manual control of an X-Y table without having to bother with the PC user interface.
